Let's Talk

Waste Management

GE Greenway Environmental focus it's attention on our clients by assisting them in their needs to properly handle the disposal using regulatory methods approved by State, Federal and local government agency. Each client is a case by case basis depending on the quantity and type of disposal. Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS) is required with other documentation when disposing to determine the hazardous levels and validation of waste type. If client doesn't have the actual MSDS required for proper disposal then further investigating is required before removel by taking actual samples with extreme care from the site then send the samples to certified lab to determine results to insure proper handling.

Abestos Inspection

TEXAS LEGISLATURE PASSES ASBESTOS SURVEY LAW - Senate Bill 509

The 2002 bill requires a licensed Asbestos Survey prior to obtaining a permit for the renovation or demolition of a public or commercial building. The survey must be prepared by a licensed professional and meet strict state guidelines.

You should know that GE Greenway provides a low cost and reliable solution to state mandated Asbestos Surveys. All municipal requirements for successful commercial permitting are satisfied in your customized survey.

State law requires building owners to obtain an Asbestos Survey when acquiring a building permit for commercial remodeling or demolition. The Asbestos Survey or Asbestos Inspection is used to promote public health by assessing and quantifying the presence of asbestos containing building materials in a public building. GE Greenway Environmental is dedicated to providing a fast and efficient response thus minimizing potential slow-downs in construction schedules. Report documentation is specifically designed to comply with local guidelines avoiding costly delays in the building permit process.

Environmental Site Assessment

Phase I and Phase II environmental site assessment Any piece of real estate can be the subject of a Phase I ESA. In the United States, an environmental site assessment is a report prepared for a real estate holding that identifies potential or existing environmental contamination liabilities. The analysis, often called an ESA, typically addresses both the underlying land as well as physical improvements to the property. A proportion of contaminated sites are "brownfield sites." In severe cases, brownfield sites may be added to the National Priorities List where they will be subject to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's Superfund program. The actual sampling of soil, air, groundwater and/or building materials is typically not conducted during a Phase I ESA. The Phase I ESA is generally considered the first step in the process of environmental due diligence. Standards for performing a Phase I site assessment have been promulgated by the US EPA[1] and are based in part on ASTM in Standard E1527-05.[2] If a site is considered contaminated, a Phase II environmental site assessment may be conducted, ASTM test E1903, a more detailed investigation involving chemical analysis for hazardous substances and/or petroleum hydrocarbons. GE Greenway Environmental and it's professional consultants can assist in developing and creating the proper site assessments for our clients depending on requirements and needs.

ASBESTOS ABATEMENT

Many buildings contain asbestos, which was used in spray-applied flame retardant, thermal system insulation, and in a variety of other materials. Asbestos was sometimes "flocked" above false ceilings, inside technical ducts, and in many other small spaces where firefighters would have difficulty gaining access. Structural components like asbestos panels were also used. In residences, asbestos was often a component of a type of flocked acoustic ceiling called popcorn ceiling or "cottage cheese ceiling", until its production was banned in the U.S. in 1978. However, the ban allowed installers to use up remaining stocks, so houses built as late as 1986 could still have asbestos in their acoustic ceilings. The only way to be sure is to remove a sample and have it tested by a competent laboratory. If removal is to be performed when users are still present in the building, it is usually necessary to relocate some users temporarily. Typically, the part of the building from which asbestos is being removed has to be sealed off in order to prevent contamination of the other areas. Methods of sealing off an area often include the use of Polyethylene film, duct tape and negative air pressure machines which are fitted with HEPA filters. The idea is that the contained area is pulling fresh air in as to not allow asbestos fibers into the surrounding environment.
